What formats and DAWs are supported?

VST3, AU, and AAX on both macOS and Windows. If your DAW supports any of those formats, you're good. We test against Pro Tools, Logic, Ableton Live, Cubase, FL Studio, Studio One, and Reaper, but it works in anything that loads standard plugin formats.

How do I authorize my license?

Open the plugin in your DAW, enter your license key in the registration field, and click activate. You get 3 licenses so you can run it on your studio machine, laptop, and a backup without juggling activations.

Does this work on Apple Silicon?

Yes. All current Kiive plugins run natively on Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4) and Intel Macs. No Rosetta required.

Mode Button

The mode buttons control the type of saturation/distortion that the plugin will produce. ODD will generate third-order harmonics.

Giving you an edgy/gritty sounding distortion. EVEN will generate second-order harmonics. Giving you a more pleasing saturation and rich tone. DIGT is a digital soft clipper. Perfect for drums or mastering.

Use this control to have ultimate control over the saturation you're applying.

Main Functions

Distort: This is your main controller. Use this knob to add in saturation and distortion based on your "mode" selection.

HF: This knob allows you to add up to 12B of presence and sheen.

LF: This knob allows you to add up to 12dB of low-end thump and thickness.

SAT: The sat knob allows you to add additional saturation to your sound. This is a nonlinear algorithm, so the values of your distort and input knobs will directly affect the sound you get from this parameter.

Pro and Pro+?

Great entry level product. Distinct & Distinct Pro remind me of iPhone 17 and 17 Pro. They’re both pro, quality and not lacking anything. But with certain distinctions that you will notice only once in a while if you’re not an actual professional.

Put distinct after a popular & free dynamic EQ and you’re good to fly!

Great utility with quick workflow

Great saturation tool; it's very quick to dial in and I've found it most useful for adding some grit/character to synths and having them poke out of a mix enough to be interesting. The number of saturation types and controls strike a solid balance between simplicity/speed and flexibility. Sounds good too!

Great multipurpose clipper/distortion

Great multipurpose distortion/clipper. The autogain is really handy for keeping levels in check, and it excels at parallel saturation. The gain reduction meter also lets you use it as a clipper in 'digital' mode.
