Complexx

Switch between three attack settings to move from a fast response to one that lets more of your initial transient through, then shape the recovery with the Release control. Complexx gives you the timing to experiment with firm level control, sustained room mics and the movement of a whole drum group. Its Mix control brings parallel compression into the same plugin, so a heavily compressed setting can become part of the balance rather than the whole result.

Expansion lets you reduce quieter audio below the threshold, giving you another way to shape sustain and the space around a recording. In Gate mode, you can take that further, with Range and timing controls to shape how it opens and closes. Try it when a drum recording feels too spread out, or when you want a more pronounced change in its sustain. It gives Complexx another way to influence the rhythm before compression.

Compression and peak limiting bring different responses to a mix, and Complexx gives you both in the same plugin. Use the Peak Limiter to work on the strongest peaks alongside the compressor’s broader dynamic movement. You can shape the energy of a drum group while giving those occasional stronger transients their own treatment.

Choose the 1:1 ratio and drive the input to explore Complexx’s saturation without compressor gain reduction. It gives you a different reason to reach for the plugin when the dynamics already sit where you want them. Linked input and output controls help compensate for gain changes as you experiment, while dual mono, stereo and mid/side modes give you different ways to work across a stereo recording.
