A bus compressor with more to give.
The Headroom knob lets you move from cleaner compression to more pronounced breakup, while the built-in saturation options let you add harmonics before or after compression.
Keep the gain reduction gentle and bring in a little saturation, or combine a more assertive compressor setting with separate odd and even harmonic controls. The saturation has its own blend, so you can decide how much of that treatment reaches your mix.

Advanced sidechain
Keep your low end. Change the compression.
If the low end is pumping your mix, change what the detector receives instead of cutting bass from your music. XBus gives you high-pass and low-pass filters plus a midband EQ to adjust which frequencies drive the gain reduction.
Solo the sidechain to hear those adjustments, then return to the full mix and set the compression. You get a better handle on the response without applying the sidechain EQ directly to your audio.
Parallel compression
Keep the setting you love. Choose how much you hear.
You don’t have to abandon an aggressive setting because it takes too much out of your mix. Use the compressor’s Mix control to bring the uncompressed signal back alongside it, keeping more of the original dynamics while retaining the compression you wanted.
The compressor and saturation have separate blend controls, so they don’t have to arrive in equal amounts. Build the balance inside XBus without another parallel bus.

Choose how your stereo mix gets compressed.
Link the stereo channels for matching gain reduction, let left and right react independently, or compress the center and sides separately. Pair that routing with fixed or input-dependent attack and release settings to shape the response around your arrangement.

Frequently asked questions
Is XBus only for the master bus?
No. You can use it on groups, stems, full mixes or individual tracks. Its compression, detection and saturation controls give you room to choose the response that suits the music.
What does the Headroom knob change?
It changes the level feeding the sidechain detector without directly changing audio input or output level. Lower settings drive more detector breakup; higher settings give cleaner compression.
Does the sidechain EQ remove bass from my mix?
No. The sidechain filters and EQ affect the detection path. Their frequency cuts and boosts are not applied directly to the main audio.
Can saturation run before or after compression?
Yes. Choose PRE to saturate the audio before the compressor, or POST to add saturation after compression. Saturation has its own blend and odd/even harmonic controls.
Can I use XBus for parallel compression?
Yes. Use the compressor’s Mix control to blend compressed and dry audio without setting up an additional bus.
